The First Week In AIU ( Orientation Week )

It was on 9th September that I reached Malaysia and after a lot of traveling in the beautiful country when I reached AIU, it gave me more surprises.
The place looked far better than I had seen on the internet and so far better than I had imagined. Its great Islamic Architecture and the work of the skilled people is really appreciable. The University, itself, is very spacious and the carefully-well-planned and well-built buildings were of real interest to me.
The hostels, where we stay is also spacious and in every room, each room mate has place for himself and could really enjoy his privacy. I felt really at ease after seeing the rooms, as what I had imagined about the sharing rooms had been totally different before.
Our first week or the orientation week also turned out to be totally different than what I had imagined. I felt a bit uneasy during the first two days before the orientation began, as the students and lecturers would be from different parts od the world and communicating and getting on well with them might be a difficult process. Also, I thought that the orientation week would have long hours lectures from different people of the college.
There were a few talks in the beginning and the place and the staff were introduced to us during these sessions but it had been the best orientation in my whole studying life. There were various games and groups were formed for this, and this enabled me and all of us to make friends with students from different countries.
Moreover, since it had been the first week, I thought that I would miss my family and friends, back there in my home country. But, to my surprise, I did not even get time to miss them and all the credit goes to the orientation week.
There were games where we had to get signatures from different people of the university, for instance, the librarians, the doctor, etc and the IEP ( Intensive English Program ) students and also games to find the different buildings of the place. These games helped us to get familiar with the buildings and get to know different staff from the university and the IEP stuents, too.
This helped me to know that the heads of the university and the IEP students and the new students, also, are very friendly and nice.
My first experience of AIU had been awesome and I really did enjoy it. It enabled me to make dozens and dozens of friends, not to miss home and also enabled me to love the AIU family, with all my heart.
